At 54 years of age Jacob became the father of Hiram S. Sanner August 17, 1881. They were married in the home of the brides father the ceremony was performed by Rev. Voight and witnessed by Mr. & Mrs. Henry Porterfield of Indian Head. Jacob Sanner served in the Civil War Co B168th PA Infantry. His name was listed as Sanders in the pension list. Taken from the book History of PA Volunteers 1861 to 1865 written by Samuel P. Bates, pub. 1871, page 1137.

The 1880 Census said that there was a 4 month old grandson, Richard Kern, living there. Hannah was 17 and Phoebe was already married and gone.

He married Mary A. McManus. Mary was born 1872. Mary died 1936 at 64 years of age. At 19 years of age Mary became the mother of James Sanner 1891.

At 20 years of age David became the father of James Sanner 1891. David Sanner married Mary Macmanus. (no dates) They produced James,(resided in Carmichaels), Chester,(resided in Connellsville), Leroy,(resided in Smithton), Clyde, (resided in Nemacolin),Hattie (Oberly),(resided in Carpentertown, Pa),Goldie (Brown)(Normalville, Pa)and Sylvia (Walsh)(Upland, Calif). Though I don't have specific ages for most, I do know James Sanner, (my grandfather) lived from 1891-1968 in Carmichaels but was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pa.

27. William³ Sanner (Jacob², Abraham¹) was born May 10, 1872. William died November 8, 1943 at 71 years of age. His body was interred November 11, 1943.

He married Mary Bertha Hoover. Mary became the mother of Sadie Sanner May 7, 1893. Mary became the mother of Flora Sanner February 10, 1901.

I am happy to admit that you and I were related way back when... My great grandfather is: Norman Sanner who had two marriages. The first one is not the line I am from but, the second one... (I gathered from your lines the wife was originally Mary Jane Brown??)

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and treasured her grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of the Connellsville area. She did volunteer work for the Connellsville State General Hospital in the snack bar and was a member of the hospital auxiliary. She was a member of the Bullskin Township Seniors, the Order of Eastern Star #247 of Connellsville and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Connellsville for more than 50 years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George W. Etling (they were married Sept. 6, 1937); a daughter, Nelva "Tootie" Hasson of Republic; three sons, Charles G. Etling and wife, Karen, of Connellsville, James A. Etling and wife, Gari, of Bountiful, Utah, and Leslie G. Etling and wife, Mary, of Connellsville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, M. "Deanie" Borden of Clermont, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Leslie Sanner, Weldon "Bob" Sanner and Jess "Bud" Sanner; two half brothers, James Tressler and Roy Tressler; and a half sister, Goldie. She married Michael James Murphy in Ligonier PA, August 9, 2002. Michael was born in Mass. May 27, 1950. Michael is the son of George Murphy and Prescilla.

At 18 years of age Pamela became the mother of Jeremy Jacob Knupp in New Hope Lutheran Church, Back Creek, Saltlick Township, September 29, 1980.

He married Bonnie J. Layman. Mahlon L. Sanner, 53, of Normalville, died unexpectantly Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, in Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. He was born Dec. 15, 1949, in Normalville, a son of Wornie Levi Sanner of Normalville and the late Daisy E. "Doll" Grimm Sanner. Mahlon was a lifelong resident of Normalville and was a graduate of Connellsville High School in the Class of 1969. He worked as a welder and was a former employee of Fruehauf Corp. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Connellsville American Legion Post #301. He was also a member of the American Legion Riders Motorcycle Club. He was a member of the Clinton Church of God. In addition to his father, Mahlon is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Bonnie J. Layman Sanner; a son, Christopher John Sanner at home; a brother, Lawrence Sanner and his wife, Norma of Normalville; six sisters, Dian Riggleman and husband, Jesse, of Romney, W.Va., Pauline Ohler and Elsie Shroyer, both of Normalville, Betty Sanner, Birdie Worley and Nancy Tissue and her husband, Greg, all of Connellsville; a nephew, Amos Hurt of Normalville, who was raised with Mahlon; and several other nephews and nieces. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Cropp. Family and friends will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Wingrove officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
